About

An otaku programmer passionate about AI, with a dream of bringing anime characters to life.

Hey there, stranger. I’m Whale Dolphin (鲸鲵) — a name taken from a line in “The Rhapsody of the Goddess of the Luo River”: “Whales and salamanders surge alongside the wheel hubs, while water birds soar as escorts.” Here, whale and salamander refer to male and female aquatic mammals. I gave them their own names too — Whale Fall (鲸落) and Salamander Whisper (鲵笙) — and even named their homes “Whale Fall’s Pond” and “Salamander Whisper’s Ocean.” I go by Whale Dolphin everywhere online, so if you spot any of these names, that’s probably me.

This blog is mostly written for myself. But if you stumbled onto one of my posts and were curious enough to end up here, maybe we’re kindred spirits.

I’m an otaku programmer at heart — I love singing, watching anime, playing gacha games, and I’m really into virtual singers and VTubers. Luo Tianyi is my all-time favorite; her voice genuinely keeps me going. Right now I’m doing research in speech synthesis, working toward building a model with the expressiveness of a real voice actor. The dream? Creating AI characters that feel as alive as the ones in the anime worlds I love.
